Red Dress Day (May 5) is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people (MMIWG2S+). This day honours the lives of those who are missing and those who have been taken, while calling attention to the ongoing impacts of colonial violence and the responsibility we all share in learning, remembering, and acting.

To recognize and honour this day, ii’taa’poh’to’p Working Circle #3 – Inter-cultural Capacity Building, in partnership with the Schulich School of Engineering, welcomes members of our University community to witness a screening of Missing Matoaka.

Missing Matoaka is a powerful documentary that shares the true story of Pocahontas from an Indigenous perspective, centering truth, voice, and lived experience in ways that challenge dominant historical narratives.
