Circles of Connection
Dear colleagues, students, and friends,
As this Full Harvest Supermoon rises — known in many Indigenous and global traditions as the Falling Leaves Moon or Hunter’s Moon — we are reminded of a sacred turning point in the seasons. This moon illuminates a time to harvest insight, release what no longer serves, and give thanks for the gifts of the land and our learning.
We send this invitation under the light of the Full Moon, carrying forward its teachings of reflection and gratitude. When we gather later this month, under the Waxing Crescent Moon, we will move into a time of renewal, intention, and planning — planting seeds of understanding as we explore how to bring meaning and spirit into our personal Land Acknowledgements.
You are warmly invited to our next Indigenous Circles of Connection Event.
Event details:
- Title: Beyond the Words: Why We Acknowledge the Land and How to Make It Your Own
- Date: Friday, Oct. 24, 2025
- Time: 1 – 2:30 p.m. MT
- Location: ENG 207
- Format: In-person (refreshments will be provided)
Join us in a gentle circle of learning and reflection as we explore the deeper meaning of Land Acknowledgements — not as scripted phrases, but as living expressions of respect, gratitude, and relationship.
Together, we’ll reflect on:
- Why we acknowledge the land,
- How to move from habit to heartfelt practice, and
- How to craft a personal acknowledgement that truly honours both place and spirit.
This Circle invites all members of our Schulich community — faculty, staff, and students — to come with open hearts and curiosity. Whether you’re new to writing Land Acknowledgements or seeking to renew your practice, this is a space for dialogue, connection, and shared understanding.
For Staff, please note that your attendance, time and energy is supported by your leadership and we would love to see you there.
Please RSVP by Friday, Oct. 17, to help us plan seating and refreshments.
We look forward to sharing this reflective time with you.
With respect and gratitude,
